Fall Mood Board

fall-mood-board

It’s Tuesday evening where I am. I haven’t posted in more than two days and didn’t realize it until I was sitting at school during one of my breaks looking for something to do with my time. So, after much contemplation and some brainstorming, I have come up with this! A fall mood board. It’s more like a random compilation of photos and clothing items that describe my personal interests in the fall months to come. I was feeling extra inspired because today was the first day I could actually get away with a chunky sweater and not sweat to death! Talk about exciting!

Without further ado, let us dive into a brief summary of what this mess of a ‘mood board’ is made of.

  • The words are self explanatory, I adore a warm mug of cider on cloudy fall says, love pumpkins and picking them with my family, hay rides ( though I haven’t been on one in forever ) and the pony rides just happened to be featured in this image.
  • I love with all my heart when the leaves begin to change colors. The world never looks quite as beautiful as it does with the change in the seasons.
  • My beauty routine in the fall is a ton of smoky eyes looks, but also really light on the foundation / contour. I personally love a more natural looking face in the fall with all the cold weather and the layering of clothes. However, I do love my wild pop of color on my lips.
  • My personal favorite part of this is the fashion. Fall fashion is my absolute favorite of all the seasons. I love layering my looks, big cozy sweaters, boots and so on.
  • My all time favorite fall look is a sweater with a collared shirt under it, a vest on top, jeans and knee high boots. the perfect look for any preppy loving, fall adoring fashionista.
  • On the flip side, when i’m relaxing at home on a day off studying or simply enjoying my day of nothing, i love chunky cardigans and leggings with big scarves and messy buns. Nothing more simple and cozy than cuddling up in a warm cardi!

I’m not too sure I did that right. In fact, I know this isn’t how an average mood board goes but I figured I’d give you a taste of my personal fall favorites on a broad scale. Hopefully you’ll come back in a couple of days for my planned fall haul & an ‘everything is 1 dollar’ haul!

wishing you all a beautiful rest of your week.

The struggles of being a community college student.

Hi all! Happy Thursday (or more excitingly so, happy Friday eve).

Today, I was sitting at school trying to come up with ideas of what to write about next and figured what better thing to write about than college!

For starters, let’s get into the basics about college for me. If it wasn’t already obvious, I attend a community college about fifteen minutes away from my parent’s house on a good day. Community college is basically like high school with more in depth content. At least, that’s how it is for me. There are more people from my high school and middle school than I would have ever liked to say go to college with me. However, the main reason I – like most people at community college – chose to attend was to save money. The plan that I had set up for myself, along with my parents input, was to attend community college for two years and get my gen-eds out of the way before I go to a larger university for the next two years (and likely the last). I did end up taking half a year off after high school for personal reasons and now I’m in my second semester as a college student. So, without further ado let’s get into the very struggles I have encountered so far as a community college student (though most college students in general could relate):

  1. Having an hour or more breaks in between classes and having no dorm to go home to. and if you’re like me, which most aren’t, you don’t drive so there’s not even a way to leave school.
  2. Being surrounded by so many people from not only high school, but middle school also. Maybe for some of you this is a benefit but in my case, it is most definitely not.
  3. Too rich for financial aid, too poor for tuition in full. payments plans are the best and worst thing ever invented.
  4. The lack of social events & opportunities. unless you play sports or are just a very overly-social person, making friends in community college that you didn’t have prior is near impossible.
  5. Working at your job every day you aren’t at school. Now, I totally know that university students who live on campus have like on campus jobs or even ones off campus but living at home always seems to mean more time for a job and even less time for a social life / studying / real college stuff.
  6. Study groups / Group projects / anything related to groups at community college. it’s impossible. plain and simple. one person works Tuesdays but everyone else works Wednesdays, and one person only has the car on Thursdays. oh, but the last person doesn’t even drive. the word group makes me cringe.

Six seems like an awfully random place to stop, but hopefully you all found this somewhat easy to relate to or at least got a good laugh out of it. Feedback is always welcome.

Who am I?

Well let me start of by saying this is not my first attempt at a blog. However, I’d like to think that my blogging skills are a little more advanced than they were when I was sixteen. So, without further ado let us dive into the lovely world of, well.. me!

My name for starters is Bri! Short for Brianna, and spelled with the “i” not the double “e” that just about every other Bree I knew went by.

I was raised and still live in suburban Illinois, somewhere around an hour north of Chicago. So, yes, if you ask me I’ll probably say I’m from Chicago because nobody knows the little village I actually live in. Nor do you need to.

I’m a few months short of officially being one of those obnoxious twenty-somethings that everyone swears are out to destroy the world. Although if you ask me I’m pretty sure I don’t have a clue what i’m doing with my life so destroying the world is a little too much for my plate right now.

I’m a college student currently attending community college for two more semesters before it’s off to university to expand my horizons a little bit. ( quite literally considering I haven’t lived anywhere but this home for almost twenty years ). I am also an aunt of three nieces, three nephews, and one unknown on the way! Beyond that I am a sister and the youngest sibling of three. Two older brothers and a half sister as well.

The little things in life I consider important include coffee, looking up pictures of insanely cute desk organization photos, complaining about my math homework because let’s face it, math and I will never be friends. I also have this wild dream of moving to Ireland one day and living on a bunch of land and raising sheep, but if you want to be more realistic I’ll probably move to Chicago after college and ( hopefully ) get a job teaching considering that’s the major I’m studying. Anything involving french culture, count me in, because I also have this dream that one day I’ll own a vacation home in the south of France where my dream family and I will go every summer. In the words of Clueless, As if!

To top it all off, I am hopelessly in love with fashion and all the art that goes with it. My style is a mess of neutral and preppy ( how those can go together.. well, they can’t, but I made it happen ). I love layering and big cozy sweaters, but I’ll also find a way to wear Lilly Pulizter in the winter and call it holiday wear. For being a broke college kid, I have a bad habit of shopping and hopefully one day my dream closet will magically appear.

Hopefully my dry humor and my love for fashion and lifestyle tips will bring you back for my next post in the coming days. If so, I can’t wait for you to see what is in store.

And as I always sign off on all my work,
